Folk Spot Denmark 2014 featuring eight great Danish acts at the 40th Tønder Festival!

By Danish Roots |

In the last weekend of August, the major Danish roots and folk music event, Tønder Festival, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. The festival is presenting an adventure of wonderful music from countries like Norway, Ireland, England, Scotland, Canada and The US – and of course from Denmark. From the international music scene you will meet bands like The Chieftains (IRL), Steve Earle (USA),  Runrig (SCO), Oysterband (UK), Martha Wainwright (CAN, Le Vent du Nord (CAN), and many, many more.

During the festival the Old Mill in Tønder (“Visemøllen”), where the festival started 40 years ago, will be housing Folk Spot Denmark, a showcase introducing eight Danish bands and soloists, who are all traveling with their acts. The audience will be a good blend of enthusiastic folk music lovers from the festival, and specially invited delegates from a large number of countries, good people who are working with roots and folk music on a daily basis, them being festival organizers, music journalists, TV-producers, managers, bookers or so. They will all be introduced to the following Danish bands:

– Dreamers’ Circus: www.dreamerscircus.com

– Habadekuk: www.habadekuk.dk

– Trolska Polska: www.trolskapolska.dk

– Jens Lysdal: www.lysdal.com

– Jensen & Bugge: www.jensen-bugge.dk

– Basco: www.bascoband.com

– Rannok: www.rannok.dk

The many international guests will join the full festival, meeting also the music and dance tradition of the small Danish Island, Fanø, and a number of other Danish acts, including Alan Klitgaard Band, Poul Krebs, Harald Haugaard with Helene Blum and many more.

ATTENTION: The new online radio station, Radiofolk.dk, will be broadcasting from The Old Mill (Visemøllen) during the festival weekend (www.radiofolk.dk).
