By Danish Roots |

Himmerland is one of the most traveling roots/world bands coming out of Denmark, and on April 15th 2014 the band return to Australia to tour for 10 days, performing at a couple of large folk festivals, and a number of smaller venues. The band will cross the country from Sydney in the east, over the capitol Canberra and Melbourne, to Fairbridge in the very West. Eskil Romme who play the saxophone in the band says:

“I have been traveling and touring regular in Australia and New Zealand with different bands, and it was great to be able to introduce Himmerland to the audience at National Folk Festival and the many smaller venues last year. This year we return with new material, it is going to be fantastic, and we are already panning for Australia and New Zealand in February 2015.”

Himmerland is preparing to record their second album just after returning from Australia, composing and arranging quite a lot of new music composed by the band members, as well as a few traditional Danish songs in new arrangements. The members of Himmerland come from a number of different cultures, traditions and genres, and that you can hear in their music and see in their stage performance. The new material of the band will be presented at the venues as well as at the National Folk Festival in Canberra, and Folkworld Fairbridge Festival in Fairbridge.
