Danish folk/world band, Himmerland, touring in Scotland!
Himmerland is a five piece band from Denmark performing an eclectic mix of traditional Danish songs in new arrangements, and some very new compositions by the band members, arranged for vocals, violin, saxophone, guitar, electric bass guitar and percussion. The band has been touring in Europe, Russia, Canada, South America, Australia and New Zealand, during the last three or four years, and will be releasing their second album on November 7th 2014.
But for the next week or so the band will be touring in Scotland performing in Edinburgh Folk Club on Wednesday the 1st of October, Rogart in Sutherland on Thursday the 2nd of October, The Reel, Kirkwall on Orkney Islands on Friday the 3rd of October, The Gable End Theatre, Hoy, Orkney Islands on Saturday the 4th of October, finishing of at The Gallery, Resipole Studios, Archaracle, Argyle on Sunday the 5th of October.
“We are very much looking forward to present some of our brand new compositions for a Scottish audience”, says the bands guitar player, Morten Alfred Høirup, “We love playing in Scotland, and we go as often as we can. It is going to be wonderful to meet the beautiful Scottish fall, and all the nice people up there. We Danes seems to share our sense of humor with the Scottish people, we have a lot of music in common as well, and the band just can’t wait to go!”
